Benihana’s charity team building event proved that strong leadership skills can influence others both inside and outside the company.
Achieving Company Goals By Serving the Interest of Others
A group of 175 corporate execs and regional, district and store managers from Benihana gathered at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center for their annual weeklong leadership summit. What started as a fun networking opportunity quickly became a chance to accomplish more than organizational goals. Part of their agenda including a two-hour charity team building Bike-a-Thon™ that would allow the group to give back to the Nashville community while helping to strengthen their internal one.
After a few warmup games, we discussed the main task of the day: to build bicycles for local area children that otherwise may never enjoy the opportunity. After learning that the bicycles would be received on the spot, every team member appeared excited to complete the challenge.
Building a Brighter Future for Nashville, TN Children
The theme of the event was all about collaboration, communication, and teamwork. The Bike-a-Thon™ was the perfect event to help each participant exemplify these qualities. Being from all over the country, this weeklong meeting was the first time many of the team members had met face to face. Knowing next to nothing about each other made it all the more important to tap into their teamwork skills to ensure a successful event.
As a result of their team efforts, several Nashville children received brand new bicycles. To many, a bicycle is a childhood rite of passage, but this group saw firsthand what a simple gift of a bicycle can do for a child in need. Not only did their contributions provide enjoyment, it offered a ray of hope for children who needed something positive. This event proved that the actions of some can impact others. In this case, the team was able to create a meaningful impact for both themselves and the Nashville community, neither of which will soon be forgotten.
Benihana Team Training is a Success!
As the event drew to a close, we gathered again to recap the event and discussed what they learned. The team was excited to have been a part of such an honorable cause, and are counting the days to their next team building event.
