It might be the start of a bad joke. “How many leaders does it take to change a light bulb?” But the reality is that bringing together leaders and asking them to work together can sometimes raise interesting challenges. Issues around style, decision making and expected outcomes often emerge when you bring together leaders who are each used to managing a piece of an organization with some level of autonomy.
We become what we think about most of the time, and that’s the strangest secret.
Look in your purse, pocket or desk drawer, and ask yourself two questions: 1) Where did all those pens and paper clips come from, and 2) How much did they cost? Chances are you don’t know the answers. Pens, pencils and other office supplies appear and disappear without our noticing – until we need one.
