NBCUniversal Delivers Joy to Children in Need at our Bike-a-Thon in New York City, NY

We staged this Bike-a-Thon Charity Workshop for a group of 40 participants from NBCUniversal at their amazing facility in Soho. If you’re not already familiar with our Bike-a-Thon Charity Workshops, here’s a quick overview of how they usually operate.

After meeting with a client’s management team to find out what their specific teamwork needs are, we come up with a workshop that’s custom designed to address these issues directly. In the meantime, the company chooses a local charity to receive the bikes their employees build in the course of the workshop.

In this case, NBCUniversal wanted to give the bicycles to The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, an organization in the Southwest Bronx that’s been helping kids for several generations. The organization usually sends a representative to accept the donation, but this time was a little different. It was different because the kids that would actually be receiving the bikes showed up in person. Needless to say, this was an amazing experience for everyone.

A Content Delivery Team on the Receiving End for Once

Usually, it was the NBCUniversal team’s job to deliver content to various television providers, but they were on the receiving end of things during our workshop. We divided the 40 participants into teams and took them through the paces of several of our customized warm-up games. These helped break the ice and got everyone into a competitive teamwork mode. Our facilitators coached them through these events giving guidance and encouragement that was intended to establish permanent work habits.

After the warm-up activities, we worked through the parts earning phase and the actual bicycle assembly. Not only were the folks from NBCUniversal energetic and fun to work with, they also made a great deal of progress as the workshop wore on.

This time, the Kids From Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club Were All the Audience NBCUniversal Needed

The arrival of the kids from the Boys and Girls Club came as a pleasant surprise to all of us. Their smiling faces alone were enough to infuse the proceedings with positive energy, but it was the perfect end to a great workshop when we got the chance to see them personally accept the bicycles. And it was obvious that our clients were pleased as well, as we heard nothing but positive comments and a desire to do it all over again someday soon. We’re happy to report that we feel exactly the same way. We look forward to working with NBC again in the future.
